Age 86, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2001 in the Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton, following a brief illness. Irish was born in Kimberly on August 10, 1915, son of the late William and Bridget (Kilawee) Sarrasin. On July 18, 1939, he married the former Stennece Heilman at Holy Name Church in Kimberly; she preceded him in death on March 3, 1979. For many years, Irish worked for the Kimberly Clark Mill as an electrician, and was a member of the Quarter-Century Club there. He was a member and Past Commander of the William Verhagen Post #60 of the American Legion, who will provide the military honors on the day of his burial. Irish was an avid bowler, and golfer, and was a member of Countryside Golf Course in Kaukauna. His family will always cherish and remember the nearly daily luncheons with him. Irish is survived by three daughters:
Sue (Marty) Ziepke of Little Chute and Sue’s children: Tim Coenen and his special friend Laurie, Brenda Coenen and her special friend Rob, and Shelli (Steve) Bessett; and by Marty’s children: Jon (Marcy) Ziepke, Mark Ziepke, Tammy Kuehne, and Kristi Maki;
Cindy Knudsen of Little Chute and her children Shawn (Kris) Knudsen, Shanin Knudsen, Shane (Lynn) Knudsen, and Shayla Knudsen and her special friend Vince;
Cheryl (Jim) Vande Voort of Darboy and their children Missy (Kevin) Plutz and Bill Vande Voort.
Irish is further survived by ten great-grandchildren: T.J. Coenen; Nick and Logan Bessett; Jamie, Ashlie and Jared Knudsen, Noah Knudsen, and Kaitlyn and Nicole Plutz; eleven step-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law: Ivyl Mackin of Port Richey, FL; a brother-in-law: Carl (Lorraine) Heilman of Kaukauna. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, grandchildren Debbie Coenen and Mark Coenen, and sisters Marie (John) Vanden Boogaard and Gerry Sarrasin.
The funeral liturgy for Irish will be held at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, November 20, 2001 at HOLY NAME CATHOLIC CHURCH, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue in Kimberly with Fr. David Pleier officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 3:00 PM until the hour of the service.
