William “Bill” Hoppy” R. Hopfensperger, age 91, passed away on April 16, 2025. He was born on August 2, 1933, to Alexander and Carolyn (Patsch) Hopfensperger. Following his schooling he enlisted in the Navy in 1951 and attended Great Lakes Boot Camp. He served in Korea and returned home to be discharged in 1955. Upon returning home, he married Carol Moseng, and they had five children together. Carol and Hoppy parted ways and Hoppy married Edna “Sophie” Olson in 1968. The raised their combined family in Menasha.
Bill enjoyed spending time at his trailer in Crivitz, the “occasional” beer and spending time fishing. His favorite pastime was shooting the bull with friends Bob and Larry. He loved to cook and later in his life really loved driving bus-he just loved the kids.
Bill is survived by his children: Linda (Rod) McCants; Kim (Rob) Mildenhall, Bill “Butch” (Karen) Hopfensperger, Tony Hopfensperger, and Teri Lynn Hopfensperger, Kelly (Stacy) Hopfensperger; his step-children: Bob (Ann) Olson, Terry (Shelly) Olson; grandchildren: Molly (Ben) and their daughter Hazel, Kellend (Ross), Kelsey (Josh) and their daughter Kalla, Kyle, Randy (Tori), Jill (Marco) and their daughter, Viviana, Jackson (Kayla) and their daughter, Eden, Conrad, Brenna, Matthew, Ryan, Dillon, Tyler, and Jordyn; siblings: Ronald (Marlia) Hopfensperger, Marian Thibodeau, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Edna “Sophie”; his parents and his sisters.
A funeral service for Hoppy will take place on Tuesday April 22, 2025, at 12:00pm at Wichmann Funeral Home-Laemmrich Chapel, 312 Milwaukee Street, Menasha. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home from 11:00am until the service begins. He will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Bill's family would like to thank his special nephew Mark Olson, the staff at Care Partners -Hortonville, and ThedaCare New London-3rd floor nursing staff for all the special care provided to Hoppy.
