Appleton
Age 73, died unexpectedly Friday, December 30, 2005, at his home.
Bill was born September 1, 1932, in Appleton, the son of the late Frank and Tharcilla (Borneman) Liethen. He was a 1950 graduate of Appleton High School, and served our country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Bill was united in marriage to Myrna Schmitt on June 25, 1960, in St. John, Wis.
Prior to his retirement, Bill was employed with Tax Air Freight. He previously had worked with August Winter and Sons and Railway Express. Bill enjoyed hunting, refinishing furniture, leather work, reading, working in his basement, making knives, card playing, and helping out his neighbors when called upon. His special times were spent up north at Lake Lucerne near Crandon.
Survivors include his wife, Myrna; his daughter, Patti (Charles) Jensen; his son, Bill (Gretchen) Liethen; two grandsons, Joseph R. and Eric D. Liethen; a brother, Jack (Bonnie) Liethen; two sisters, Phyllis Leach and Mary (Dave) Meier; his brothers-in-law, Roger (Ann) Schmitt, Terry (Carol) Schmitt, and Randy (Hope) Schmitt, a sister-in-law, Linda (Dave) Kieso; and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Richard, a brother, Frank E. Liethen, and his father and mother-in-law, Walter and Cora Schmitt.
Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Bill’s name is being established.
