Bill Ticknor, a child of God, passed to his eternal home in heaven on Monday evening, October 18, 2021. Bill was born in Wisconsin Rapids on July 28, 1936, son of the late Gaylord and Josephine (Kaja) Ticknor. He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Madison and held a degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked for several corporations including James River, Dow Chemical, Standard Oil, and Duralam. He married Jacquelyn Schaefer in Port Edwards on September 3, 1960, and together raised five children.
Number one in Bill’s life was God. He spent most of his adult life teaching people about the love of God and the free gift of salvation available to all. His number two was his wife Jackie and his family. He loved spending time with his family and treasured each one. Bill also loved to cook, play cards, fish, teach bible study, coach, and teach sports to his kids and others.
Survivors include his wife: Jackie Ticknor; daughters: Lori (Kevin) Wichman, Kara (Kai) Odegard, Jodi (Andrew) Meyer, Sheila Jacobs, and Daniel Ticknor. There are also sixteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters: Karen (Harold) Oleson, Peggy (Bill) Hamilton, and Gaylin Ticknor and two brothers-in-law: Don (Pam) Schaefer and John (Jan) Schaefer.
We will celebrate Bill’s victory over death and the cross with a Christian memorial service at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 22, 2021 at the Wichmann Funeral Home Laemmrich Chapel, located at 312 Milwaukee Street in Menasha.
