William D. Meagher

Age 75, died Monday June 17, 2002. Bill was born March 27, 1927 to the late Byron and Ann (Lagon) Meagher in Duluth, MN. He married the former Joan Fleischmann on December 27, 1951, she survives him. Bill served in the U.S. Army during WWII until he was honorably discharged in 1946. He worked for 41 years with Allis-Chalmers Co. retiring in March of 1992 as District Manager of the South East Region. Bill attended the University of Minnesota and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Amvets, American Legion of Duluth, MN, and was a Committeeman of Boy Scout Troop #67 of Appleton. Bill was also a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Tarpon Springs and the Tarpon Springs Country Club.
Bill is survived by his wife, Joan Meagher of New Port Richey, FL; a daughter, Allee Meagher and her husband Scott Elrod of Alpharetta, Georgia; two grandchildren, Rachael Ann Maegher and Loren Elrod; a brother Richard (Paula) Meagher of Duluth, MN; two sisters, Natalie Whalen of Duluth, MN and Jeane LaSalle of Akron, OH.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ross Meagher, a grandson Erik Elrod and a sister Judy Cosalter.
The Funeral Liturgy will be 11 AM on Friday, June 21, 2002 at ST. THERESE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 213 East Wisconsin Avenue, Appleton with Fr. Daniel C. Gilsdorf officiating. Viewing and visitation will be Thursday at the FUNERAL HOME from 4 PM until 7 PM and again on Friday at CHURCH from 10 AM until the time of service. Full military honors will be preformed before the burial at The Historic Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Boy Scout Troop #67 Ross W. Meagher Library Fund.
