Age 61, died Saturday morning, October 4, 2003, at his home with his family by his side. He was born November 27, 1941 in Oshkosh, to the late Albert G. and Sara M. (Schock) Gerhardt and had been an Appleton resident most of his life. Bill served with the U. S. Army, in Germany, during the Viet Nam Conflict and enjoyed his family, golf and travel. He was employed by Hewitt for over 40 years. Bill was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the William Verstagen, Kimberly American Legion Post # 60. Survivors include his wife, Kristine (Vanden Boogard) Gerhardt, to whom he had been married to for (X) Years; his daughter, Dawn Marwitz, Oshkosh; two granddaughters, Danielle and Carly Marwitz; Dawn’s special friend, Bob Pollnow and Dawn’s mother, Darlene Kennedy; 11 brothers and sisters, Joan Ward, Appleton; Roger and June Gerhardt, Kimberly; Steve and Irene Gerhardt, New York; John and Judi Gerhardt, New London; Mary Bliven, Appleton; Jean Vissers, Appleton, and her special friend, Michael St. Peter; Sally Schreiber, Freedom; Ann and Jack Knaack, Menasha; Tony and Rebecca Gerhardt, Appleton; Rita and Mark Thiel, Darboy; Su Gerhardt (Wendy), Menasha; nieces and nephews, Micheline, Cathy, Peggy, Clare, Mary Jo, Anita, Beth, Paul, Steve Jr., Scott, Alan, John Jr., Jimmy, Dina, Rhea, Ryan, Scott, Kenny, David, Sara, Michael, Brian, Michelle, Jackie, Martin, Tim, Jack Jr. (Fuss), Melissa, Alison, Aaron and Adam; many great nieces and nephews. Bill is further survived by his father and mother-in-law, Mathias and Marian Vanden Boogard, Kimberly; brothers-in-law, John and Pat Vanden Boogard, Green Bay; Dick and Mary Lou Vanden Boogard, Kimberly; Dave and Kathy Vanden Boogard, Little Chute; and a sister-in-law, Kathy and Dick Hurst, Cloquet, MN. The funeral liturgy for Bill will be held at 12:00 pm (Noon), Thursday, October 9, 2003, at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, 222 East Fremont Street, with Father William Karuhn officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Oshkosh. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 – 8 pm, Wednesday and on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of the mass. A memorial fund is being established.
