Age 84, went to his Heavenly home on Friday, November 20, 2009. He was born in Appleton on June 15, 1925 the son of the late Ernest and Helen (Selle) Meyer. On February 16, 1947 he married Audrey Seif, who preceded him in death in 1978. On October 21, 1978 he married Myrna Fuhrman-Kielbasa and enjoyed 31 years of marriage. Bill was employed at Fox Tractor. He later operated a dairy farm and worked in delivery at various lumber yards. After he retired he enjoyed working the Friday Brat Fry at Cedar Creek. Bill was a proud graduate of the New London Class of 1975 and involved with Fox Valley Lutheran High School. He enjoyed carpentry and built many things for his family. Bill loved fishing with his family and many friends. Bill will be remembered for his strong faith in his Savior and his activities with the church and his involvement with the Homebound Ministries.
Bill is survived by his wife, Myrna; children: Dave (Barb) Meyer, Dale (Janice) Meyer, Dean (Leona) Meyer, Del (Annette) Meyer, Sue Millard and special friend Gene Guth, Sherrie (Mike) Kent, Sharon (Bill) Stuesser and Sara Kopitzke and special friend Greg Pope; son-in-law: Scott Meyer; step-children: Randy (Tammy) Kielbasa, Jean Kielbasa and Nancy (Paul) Neuman; daughter-in-law, Betty Kielbasa; 29 grandchildren: 28 great-grandchildren; brothers: Edward Meyer, Elroy (Wenda) Meyer and Howard (Barb) Meyer; sisters: Edith Dorow, Elda (Norm) Wilda and Verna Gamsky; and in-laws: Orland (Sharon) Schmidt, Wayne (Judy) Schmidt, Mary Schmidt, Elaine (Tom) Bartel, Norbert (Erica) Fuhrman, Myrtle Conn and special friend Don Burnett and Wadsworth Barnhart. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Sallie Meyer; stepson, Frank “Mike” Kielbasa; sister, Rosemary Barnhart; brothers-in-law, Lawrence Dorow and Ted Gamsky; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Meyer.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at BETHANY EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 530 W. Parkway Blvd., Appleton with Rev. Darin D. Aden officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Dale Union Cemetery.
The family extends a special thank you to Pastor Adin, all of the I.C.U. nurses, Dr. Avery and Dr. O'Brien at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Heartfelt gratitude is extended to all of our neighbors who have done so much for us.
A memorial fund in Bill's name is being established.
