William A. Gardner, 74 years, passed away in the presence of his loving family, December 29, 2017 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Appleton. He was born August 22, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan. He relocated to Appleton and was a graduate of Appleton West High School Class of 1961. Bill was a proud veteran of the US Air Force serving at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, Nevada. He worked at Moe Northern Electric and WE Energies. The “Gas Man” retired from WE Energies after 40+ years of service.
William and Kathleen Gardner (DeDecker) were married for over 50 years. They liked to travel, visiting many places including Bermuda, Mexico, Jamaica, the Panama Canal and Aruba on cruises and visiting Las Vegas to try their luck.
Bill will be missed by his wife Kathleen Gardner, children Kelly Anne (Chuck) Ulmen, Jody Lynn (Robby) Baril, and William Patrick (Juliet) Gardner, grandchildren Michael Ulmen, Kaitlyn Ulmen and Josie Baril, siblings Connie (Robert) Vanden Burgt, sister Joanie (Roger) Nuernberg his twin, brother-in-law Frank Label, sisters-in-law Rose Ahrens and Terry Schmidt, and brother-in-law Dr. Randy (Nancy) DeDecker. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his loving mother Joan Gardner, in-laws Gertrude and Harold DeDecker (Paulowski), a sister Nancy Label, and a brother-in-law Tom Ahrens.
A Memorial Service for Bill will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 6:00 pm at Wichmann-Fargo Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St., Appleton. Family and friends may visit at Wichmann-Fargo Funeral Home, from 4:00 pm until time of Service.
The family of Bill extends a thank you to the staff of ThedaCare Regional Medical Center for their professional and loving care of him.
