Age 58, died at his home on Saturday, July 3, 2004. Willy was born on May 28, 1946, in Appleton, to the late Willard A. and Dorothy (Upchurch) Maass, Sr. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Viet Nam era and was a disabled veteran. He married Julie Buss on September 1, 1973, in Appleton. Willy was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of the Johnston-Blessman Post #38 of the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter #18. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Julie; his children, Willard Adam Maass, Shannon Maass (Paul); Tricia (Jeff) Harris, DoBea (Brian) Alberts, Zachary Maass and Apryl (Kris) Stewart; his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Michelle, Hope Marie, Christian, Alex, Derrick, Bradley, Jerod, Brianna, Abigail and Kody; his mother–in-law, Roseann Buss and his father-in-law, John Buss; his sisters, Louise Dietrich and Patty Maass; his brothers, Tim Maass and Tony (Patti) Maass; his nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many special friends. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at SHEPHERD OF THE HILLS LUTHERAN CHURCH, N1615 Meadowview Lane, Greenville, with Rev. Paul L. Shackel officiating. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Appleton, on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and again directly at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Military honors will follow the services at the church. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the paramedics, first responders and Jim & Sharon Prahl for their loving help. A memorial has been established in his name.
