On February 12, 2007, Bill passed away with his loving family at his side at the age of 85. A lifelong resident of Kaukauna, Bill was born on April 28, 1921 in Little Chute, son of the late Albert and Adriana (Vande Wettering) Van Dyn Hoven. On his 21st birthday in 1942, he married his loving wife Grace Hietpas. The couple shared sixty-four wonderful years together. After returning from World War II, he co-founded Van Dyn Hoven Auto Sales with his late brother John. Bill was a proud member of the Kaukauna Moose Lodge, as well as the Electric City Post #3319 of the VFW. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing in his free time. Bill also had a love for automobiles. He started out by restoring old Model A’s, but his all-time favorite was, of course, the Buick.
Bill is survived by his wife Grace; a daughter: Joyce (Richard) Hurst of Little Chute; two sons: Gerald (Marce) Van Dyn Hoven of Kaukauna and Jeff Van Dyn Hoven and his special friend Lynn Van Handel of Kimberly; seven grandchildren: Brian (Lorri) Hurst, Gina (Thomas) Boyer, Mike Hurst, Nicole (Dan) Van Deurzen, Eric Van Dyn Hoven, Adam Van Dyn Hoven, and Luke Van Dyn Hoven; seven great-grandchildren: Taylor and Brady Hurst; Allison and Daniel Boyer; and Abraham, Isaac, and Nathanael Van Deurzen; a sister: Barbara Deltgen of Appleton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Anton (Agnes), Albert (Rosella), Hank (Florence), Frank (Ruth), Gus (Bernice), John (Lillian), and a brother-in-law Bill Deltgen.
Visitation will be held at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 119 W. 7th Street in Kaukauna on Saturday, February 17, 2007 from 9:00 AM until 12:00 Noon. The funeral liturgy will be held at noon on Saturday at St. Mary Church, with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to the staff of the ICU at Appleton Medical Center for their care and compassion for Bill. Thanks also to Fr. Jerry for his support and prayers during these final hours. .
Dad – We will always remember you – we will cherish those fond memories forever. With lots of love, your loving family.
