Vandenberg, Wilbert C.
Wilbert C. Vandenberg, age 95, of Appleton, died Sunday evening, December 4, 2005, following a brief illness. He was born February 27, 1910, to the late Albert and Nellie (Hurkman) Vandenberg, in Little Chute, where he graduated from High School. Bill married Lila Radtke, January 24, 1942, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Appleton. He was the assistant abstractor for Outagamie County Register of Deeds before the war. Bill served with the U. S. Army during WW II, and saw duty in Australia and New Guinea. Following the war he was made abstractor for the Register of Deeds until his retirement in 1975. Bill loved to play golf and travel with Lila. He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258, Little Chute and the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by a sister, Elva Dorn, Appleton; a sister-in-law, Margaret Radtke, Appleton; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lila Vandenberg, November 12, 2004, three brothers, Joe (Marie) Vandenberg, Norb (Margaret) Vandenberg, Arnold (Annabell) Vandenberg; three sisters, Mabel (Arn) Bongers, Lorraine (James) McInnis, Hattie (Herb) Hermsen; three brothers-in-law, Gordon (Blanche) Radtke, Ralph Radtke and Herb Dorn. The funeral liturgy for Wilbert will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 7, 2005, at ST. THOMAS MORE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1810 North McDonald Street, with Father Gerald Falk officiating. Entombment will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday, from 10:00 am, until the time of the mass. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established for St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
