Age 93, died in Appleton on Sunday, September 8, 2002. He was born to the late Chris and Sarah (Ferch) Vande Berg in Alto, Wisconsin, on March 28, 1909. He married Angeline Van Roy at Holy Name Catholic Church in Kimberly on November 22, 1975. Bill spent many years as a shoe maker in Waupun, Wisconsin. Even during his retirement, he loved to fix people’s shoes when the need arose. Bill was always very active and particularly enjoyed dancing, gardening and playing pool and cards with the “Golden Agers.”

Bill is survived by his wife, Angeline; daughter, Bernadine (Tom) Kelly of Prairie Du Chien; grandchild, Valerie (Randy) Cvikel of Jackson; two great-grandchildren: Zachary and Sarah Cvikel; brother, Melvin (Lori) Vande Berg of Beaver Dam; two sisters: Sadie Jones of Columbus and Sylvia “Sis” Herrman of Waupun; sister-in-law, Hazel Vande Berg; four step-children: Rosella Schnese of Anchorage, Alaska, Dorothy (Leo) Van Drasek of Appleton, Darlene (James) Dorn of Kimberly, and Bernard (Rita) Van Roy of Kimberly; 15 step-grandchildren; 21 great step-grandchildren, and one great, great stepgrandchild. Bill is further survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The funeral liturgy will be at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2002, at HOLY NAME OF JESUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 600 East Kimberly Avenue, Kimberly, with Fr. Leopold Gleissner officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the liturgy. Burial will be at Holy Name Cemetery, Kimberly.

The family extends a special thank you to Colony Oaks Care Center for their compassionate care of Bill.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Bill’s name to Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.
