Age 76, died Sunday May 4, 2003, at his home. Wayne was born on July 4, 1926, in Appleton, to the late Harvey and Bonita (Agen) Neuman. He married Joan Bayer. Wayne was employed at Riverside Paper Company for over 45 years; he was vice-president of Operations and Industrial Relations, and was a member of the board of directors prior to his retirement in 1996. He served his nation in the United States Navy during World War II, earning numerous medals while in both the Pacific and European theatres. Wayne was active in the Americano's Drum and Bugle Corps, Cub Scouts, Appleton Athletics, the VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, electronics repair, fishing and especially the time spent at his second home in Neillsville. Survivors include his wife, Joan; his son, Steve (Karen) Neuman, and their children, Kristin and Steven, Jr., Green Bay; his daughter, Susan (Dennis) Ganzen, and their son, Jon, Appleton; his son, Mike (Nicole) Neuman, and their children, Tyler, Presley, Elijah and Isaiah, Appleton; his daughter-in-law, Pam Neuman, and children Justin and Jessica, Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; his brother, Florian (Nancy) Neuman, Appleton; his sister, Sandra (Larry) Walburn, Menasha; his sister-in-law, Carol Captain, Appleton, and Claire Zielinski, Appleton; his brother-in-law, Carl Bayer, Jr., Green Bay, and James (Mertz) Bayer, Appleton; also many nieces, nephews and aunts. He was preceded in death by his son, Bruce and his brother Vilas; his in-laws, Carl and Edith Bayer, his sisters-in-law, Mildred Bayer and Andrea Bayer; and his brothers-in-law, Tom Captain and Norm Zielinski. Private services were held at the funeral home. Interment was in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. The family would like to thank Wayne's numerous friends who continued their friendship and support during his adversities. The family would also like to thank the Home Care Ministries, and the nurses and the therapists who cared for Wayne for over five years.
