Wava Winifred Vollmer, age 93 of Menasha, passed away on October 18, 2016 at her home. Wava was born on October 29, 1922 in Minot North Dakota to Clarence and Sarah (Franklin) Grow. She was a graduate of Rib Lake Wisconsin High School. She was married to Edwin Johnson and when he preceded her in death she was able to find love again and married DuWayne “Duke” Vollmer. She worked as a waitress at Bob Bleier's Bar as well as at Zwicker's Knitting Mill. Her favorite job overall however was as a crossing guard for the City of Appleton at the corner of Prospect and Rogers.
She will be sadly missed by her children: Joy (Leonard) Peterson of Denmark, Wisconsin; Shirley (Larry) Connell of Kaukauna Wisconsin; Linda Wiegand of Menasha Wisconsin; Adolph Johnson of Appleton Wisconsin; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edwin Johnson and husband DuWayne Vollmer and nine brothers.
Visitation for Wava will be on Saturday, October 22, 2016 from 9:00am to 10:45am at Highland Memorial Park of Appleton. Funeral Services will be at 11:00am with the Rev. Brian Bankert officiating.
