“CHUCK”
Warren L. “Chuck” Thiel, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29, 2006, at Cherry Meadows, Appleton. Chuck was born on September 5, 1923, in Marshall, Minnesota, to the late Leonard and Mabel (Schroeder) Thiel. On May 26, 1945, he married Audrey Peters in the Chapel at Treasure Island in San Francisco. She preceded him in death on April 10, 2005. Chuck proudly served his nation in the Armed Guard of the United States Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. He established Thiel’s Floor and Carpet Service in 1950, retiring in 1998 at the age of 74. Chuck loved fishing, hunting and gardening. In his later years his passion was searching for, fixing and selling mowers and snow blowers. Chuck especially enjoyed meeting his many friends for coffee and happy hour. Survivors include his children, Pam (Lee) Harder, Neenah; Greg (Jean) Thiel, Appleton; Charlie (Cindy) Thiel, Kaukauna; and Kris (Mike) Moderson, Appleton; his two grandchildren, Melissa Thiel (fiancee, Mike Kemka) and Chuck Thiel (special friend, Nikki); his brother, Ronald (Audrey) Thiel, Seymour; and his sister, Evelyn (Clarence) Tank, California. Chuck was preceded in death by his son, Kurtis, and his sister, Wardeen Brusewitz. Memorial services will be at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2006, at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, Appleton. Friends may call directly at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until the time of services. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to family and friends, the physicians and staff at the VA Center, Appleton Medical Center and ThedaCare Hospice for their care, compassion and concern.
