Warren F. Jarvis

August 3, 1920 — December 3, 2018

Warren F. Jarvis, age 98, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 3, 2018. Warren was born on August 3, 1920, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, son of the late Fred and Flora (Dexter) Jarvis. Warren graduated from West Green Bay High School, earned a bachelor’s degree from Whitewater State College, as well as a Master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison.

Warren proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a B-17, B-24, and B-29 bomber pilot during World War II, flying 35 bombing missions over Japan in a B-29. He also flew jet fighters after the war with an Air Force reserve unit in Milwaukee. Upon his discharge he had achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Warren taught school at Kimberly High School, then started the first guidance and counseling program in the Kimberly School System. He worked as a high school guidance counselor until his retirement in 1982.

Military aviation was Warren’s main interest, and for 18 years he served as a docent at the E.A.A. Museum in Oshkosh. He also had a private pilot’s license for many years and enjoyed recreational flying in a Cessna. He and Lorraine also loved traveling and spent many happy retirement years traveling all over the country.

Warren met his wife, Lorraine, when they were both 15 years old. They married in 1943 and were married for 74 years at the time of her death in 2017. He was also preceded in death by his two sisters, Bettie Peral and Marilyn De Broux. He is survived by his daughter, Sara Jarvis; two sisters-in-law: Judy (Neil) Gerl and Sandy Martinez; a brother-in-law Peter Ewalt, as well as many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.

The funeral liturgy for Warren will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday afternoon, December 7, 2018 at the Schmidt Chapel of St. Paul Elder Services, located at 316 E. 14th Street in Kaukauna. Fr. Bob Kollath will officiate, and full military honors will follow. Family and friends are invited to gather in the Schmidt Chapel on Friday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.

Warren’s family would like to thank the staff at St. Paul Elder Services for all the care and concern that he received as a resident of The Villa, the nursing home, and in the hospice program.
