SCHEWE, WALTER P.

Walter P. Schewe, age 92, died on Monday, March 17, 2008, at ManorCare, Appleton. He was born on July 3, 1915, at Riesa, State of Saxony, Germany, to the late Wilhelm and Wilhelmina (Paul) Schewe. Walter was admitted to the United States on February 15, 1959. He settled with relatives in Fremont, Wisconsin. Walter worked for a time in Chillicothe, Ohio, and then returned to Appleton in 1964. He because a naturalized citizen in 1967. Walter was employed at the House of Cards and Cameras in Appleton and then for the GAF Corporation. In 1977, an automobile accident caused Walter's early retirement from GAF. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church for eight years and then joined First English Lutheran Church, where he has been a faithful member. Walter will be sadly missed by many friends. Nieces and nephews in Germany survive Walter. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 326 East North Street, Appleton, with Rev. George Detweiler officiating. Friends may call directly at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
