Walter A. Kiefer, 81, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Wally was born to Ben and Toni (Van Ryzin) Kiefer on July 31, 1942. He attended Appleton West High School. Following high school, he worked as an auto mechanic with Dodge for over 45 years. He married Sandy (Schwartz) Boyle on February 7, 1975. Wally will be remembered for his love for life and outgoing personality. He was a friend to everyone he met and kept a positive attitude in all that he endured. His welcoming smile drew people into hours of conversation and stories. Wally and Sandy enjoyed traveling together, summers at Kastle Kampground, and spending time with their family. The grandchildren held a special place in his heart. He would drop everything to help friends or family in need without a second thought. Wally was a dedicated volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and was recognized in both 2016 and 2017 with The President’s Volunteer Service Award. He was always on the go between home projects, endless woodworking, his volunteering, the train club, and his morning coffee at Old Glory.
Wally was preceded in death by his parents, sister Iva Moede, brother James Kiefer, his father and mother in-law Desmond and Lolita Schade, and great grandchildren Adalynn & Charlie Knapp.
Wally is survived by his loving wife Sandy of 49 years; children Gina (Thomas) Rebman, Laura (Scott) Knapp; grandchildren Britney (Phong) Nguyen, Aaron Rebman, Justin (Alexis) Knapp, Amanda (boyfriend Drew Zeller) Knapp; great granddaughter Avila Knapp, sister Cindy Hartl, brother in-law Danny Moede, brother in-law Ralph (Mary) Schwartz, sister in-law Becky Marschner, among numerous nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
