Age 71, passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2004 at his home. He was born on May 11, 1932 to the late Fred and Emma (Hartman) Grunwald. On August 22, 1953 he married Janice Krueger. Wally was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London. He served his country in the U.S. Army for two years. He operated the family farm for the majority of his life until his health began to fail. He then drove milk truck for Weyauwega Milk Products for twenty years. In his retirement he also drove delivery for Medicap Pharmacy. Wally and his wife managed Rosewood Glen Apartments in New London.
Wally will be sadly missed by his wife Janice, a daughter and son-in-law Lori and Dale Schmidt, a grandson and farming buddy Andrew Schmidt of Fremont, a son and daughter-in-law Brian and Lisa Grunwald, and two step-grandsons Jess and Eddie of Knoxville, Tennessee. He is further survived by a brother and sister-in-law LaVerne and Charlotte Grunwald of Fremont, two sisters and brothers-in-law Joyce and Terry Thomas of Appleton, and Donna and Lou D’Andrea of Oshkosh. He is also survived by Janice’s sister Ardys Bunnell and brother and sister-in-law Robert and Grace Krueger of Milwaukie, Oregon; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a step-grandson Joey Cavender, a brother-in-law Bud Bunnell, and niece Barbara Kelly.
A memorial service will be conducted on Monday, March 8, 2004 at 4:00 PM at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 200 Quincy Street in New London with the Rev. Brian Hennig officiating. Interment will take place in Floral Hill Cemetery in New London. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 2:00 PM until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established.
