Vivian M. Walsh-Benoit

WALSH-BENOIT, VIVIAN M.

Vivian M. Walsh-Benoit, of Appleton, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2011 following a brief illness. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of the late Raymond and Margaret (Newman) Ferguson. Vivian married William J. Walsh on September 17, 1949 and he died on January 12, 1971. On January 7, 1995, she married Richard Benoit and he preceded her in death on February 1, 2004.

Vivian was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and a devout Catholic; her faith was very important to her. Her family meant the world to her, and her grandchildren are fond of the many great memories with their grandmother. She loved being around young people and enjoyed cooking meals for her family. Vivian loved art, and spent many hours doing oil paintings. Vivian enjoyed animals, along with her dog Beauregard and rescued many stray animals.

She is survived by her daughter: Vivian (Richard) Wieseckel, Appleton: five grandchildren: Derek, Devin (Kayla), Adam, Victoria and Drew Wieseckel; brother: John (Rolande LeGay) Ferguson, Santa Barbara, California; special friend: Winnie Wieseckel, Fitchburg and family friend: Fr. John O'Flaherty, Chicago; step-sons: Gary (Lori) Benoit and family, Menasha; and Thomas Benoit, Chicopee, Massachusetts. Vivian is further survived by cousins, other relatives and friends.

The funeral liturgy for Vivian will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 14, 2011 at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 312 S. State Street, Appleton. Fr. Jim Leary, OFM CAP, will be officiating. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Appleton. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and again at the church on Friday morning from 10:00 am until the time of mass. There will be a prayer service held at 7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
