Virginia Schmitz

Virginia Schmitz, age 76, passed away at the Appleton Medical Center following a brief illness. Virginia was born in Kaukauna on November 13, 1929, daughter of the late Frank and Katherine (Schomisch) Schaefer. On June 14, 1952, she married Lawrence Schmitz in Kaukauna; he preceded her in death in September of 2000.

Virginia is survived by two sons: Robert (Melanie) Schmitz of Plover and their daughter Sarah, and George (Linda) Schmitz of Kaukauna and their children Tenysha (Marcus) Van Den Bogaert and Randel Schmitz; a great-granddaughter: Kileigh Van Den Bogaert; a sister: Theresa (Charles) Van Eyck of Darboy; and two sisters-in-law: Catherine Schaefer of California and Mary Schaefer of Kaukauna. She will also be missed by her feline companion, Tippy-Toe. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2000, a son Lawrence in 2003, and by brothers Charles, Ferdinand, and Cecil.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home in Kimberly from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 20, 2006. Interment will follow in Community Lutheran Cemetery, Freedom.
