Virginia Faust Couillard passed away unexpectedly at the age of 103 on Thursday, October 27, 2022. She was born May 14, 1919 in Kaukauna, WI to her loving parents, Ben and Katherine Faust. Ginnie graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1938.
She is survived by her 5 children and their spouses, Karen (Howard) Glass of Keene Valley, New York; Gary (Kathy Tyler) Couillard of Hendersonville, North Carolina; Thomas (Jeanne Higbee) Couillard of Bradenton, Florida, Patrick (Ruth) Couillard of Saukville, Wisconsin; Jayne (Steve Coia) Couillard of Underhill, Vermont; ten grandchildren: William Glass-Husain, Dan Glass, Charlie Glass, Alegria Couillard, Christopher Couillard, Bryan Couillard, Ellyn Couillard, Ashley Couillard, Jason Couillard, and Tamara Coia and many great-grandchildren. She lovingly included many others into her family and her life. Ginnie was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Ambrose, (Coonie) Couillard, her parents, and her brothers and sisters.
Ginnie entered the job force, after high school, shortly before her father passed away. She helped support her mother and six brothers and sister by working as a bookkeeper, doing housework, and working in factories. After she married, she raised her own family and later taught sewing at the Technical School for 20 years and worked in the Kimberly school cafeteria for 17 years.
In addition, Ginnie volunteered wherever she saw the need. She volunteered at St Paul’s Home in Kaukauna and she and Coonie volunteered at the Fox Cities Tourism Bureau. In addition to sewing for half the population, she knitted baptismal booties and made baby quilts for young mothers. She loved to read, play bridge, and listen to music. She especially loved the Kimberly Community Band. She got great joy out of her family and friends. She was an avid traveler, party person, writer and, all around fun person.
The funeral liturgy for Ginnie will be held December 10 at 11:00 am at St. John Nepomucene Church, 411 Vandenbroek St, Little Chute, WI, followed by lunch. Interment will be in the Holy Name Cemetery in Kimberly after lunch. Visiting hours will be held December 9, 5 – 7:30 PM, at the Jansen-Fargo Funeral Home in Kimberly.
