The family of Vicki wishes to extend their sincere thanks to all the medical staff at AMC Hospital and Oakridge Gardens for their devoted care. She was looking forward to attending her granddaughter Katie’s graduation from Marian University School of Nursing. She will watch her graduate from heaven.

Before we could walk you carried us. When we learned to walk you held our hand. When we could walk alone you directed our path. When we found our own path you gave us inspiration. Your role in our life changed as we grew, but your presence and importance remained the same. You taught us through your example that what is important is not self-centeredness, but unselfishness, not inhumanity but kindness, and not cynicism but optimism.

In the twilight of your life you had one final lesson for us as you faced death with courage and dignity. You showed us that the sorrow and pain that comes with the passing of a loved one not only imbues life with gratitude for the things we take for granted, but gave us an understanding that the scope of life can be enlarged by the compassion we feel toward each other. That compassion has given us solace and strength. As we look toward the heavens we see the light from a star. That star may have disintegrated long ago, but it’s light continued to travel for many years to reach our world.

Dear mother/grandmother even though you have passed your light will continue to illuminate our world even in the darkest night.

A private family remembrance was held.
