Vicki Lynn Stierman, age 69, passed away after a courageous battle that took her life too soon (in more ways than one). Born to the late Clifford and Emmy Lou (Fluhr) Schilling in New Holstein in 1952, Vicki lived a life of quiet grace and under-stated sassiness. She graduated from New Holstein High School in 1970 and moved to Appleton where she met her late husband, Paul. They were married in 1975 and raised two daughters, Jenny and Kim, in their home on College Ave.
She worked at Rich’s Bakery for many years and later did housekeeping at ThedaCare – AMC and Secura Insurance until her retirement.
Her home was her sanctuary and she kept it meticulously tidy and organized, always engaged in some home-improvement project or another. She enjoyed doing all kinds of games and puzzles, going out for lunch and ordering a steak sandwich (no mushrooms), and offering up brandy slushes whenever the occasion needed one. She enjoyed sewing and crafting. And if it was something she could do herself, she did it herself. She was an avid fan of anything her grandchildren did and was always their number one supporter at all of their sporting events.
Vicki was a tiny woman with the biggest heart of anyone. She was generous, she was strong, she was stubborn, and she was sweet. Throughout all the hardship, she never stopped offering up a smile to those who cared for her. She taught her children and grandchildren to appreciate the simple joys, treat everyone kindly, and how to be gracious and humble.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter Jenny (Ty) West, daughter Kim Stierman, brother Jeff (Suz) Schilling, grandchildren Taytum, Logan, and Carson, and many cousins and life-long friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Her family would like to thank her countless caregivers and special friends who made this journey a bit less difficult. “Kindness can transform someone’s dark moment with a blaze of light. You’ll never know how much your caring matters.”
