Veta Mae “Pennie” Rudie, age 91, went to be with the Lord on May 29, 2017. Pennie was born in Mechanicsburg, Illinois, on June 20, 1925, daughter of the late Ebenezer A. Robertson and Mabelle (Phillips) Robertson. On November 4, 1955, she married Leonard E Rudie at the First Christian Church in Waukegan, Illinois. She attended Argyle area grade schools and graduated from Argyle High School. Pennie attended the University of Wisconsin- Madison, and also completed an apprenticeship in Dental Assisting in Madison. She was employed for 19 years as a Dental Assistant in both Madison and Appleton. Pennie was an avid reader, and a poet, with several of her poems published. She loved cooking, baking and gardening, almost as much as sharing them with her friends, relatives and those in need. Her greatest love however, was her passion for God's word.
Pennie lived by the verse “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light onto my path” (Psalm 19:105) Pennie not only studies but also led many Bible study groups which she held in her own home. These studies were often followed by a meal which she prepared, serving as times as many as 30 seniors at a fellowship. “Well done, thou good and faithful servant…enter thou into the Joy of thy Lord” (Matthew 25:21)
Pennie is survived by her husband: Leonard: three daughters: Marliee (Gerald) Gatzke of Springvalley, Sandra (Richard) Hardt of Appleton, and Jeanne (Jeff) Nooyen of Appleton; seven grandchildren: Jeremy Gatzke, Justin Gatzke, Joe Gatzke, Ryan Hardt, Karissa Hardt Ring, Katherine Nooyen and Nicholas Nooyen; and great grandchildren: Raymond, Rudy and Gretchen Gatzke, Parker Ring, and Jocelyn and Gabriel Nooyen. Pennie is further survived by her sister: Marjorie Kammerud of Madison; as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Diane Louise, her parents, sisters and brothers, as well as her great granddaughter Elise Ring.

My Lord has blessed me beyond all measures
His precious love-life's richest treasure
Mercy and grace beyond compare
A joyous eternity with Him to share
A faith to guide my steps aright
A blessed hope ever gleaming bright
Oh, that my life might truly be
One sweet song of praise to thee
