Verna C. Hermes

Age 86, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2002 at Good Shepherd Home in Seymour following a lengthy illness. She was born on July 8, 1916 in Appleton the daughter of the late Arnold and Amanda (Damsheuser) Bast. On August 30, 1980 she married Leonard Hermes in Appleton. She was employed by the American Can Co. for 16 years retiring in 1981. She loved hunting, fishing, and camping and enjoyed sharing these activities with her family seasoned with her acute sense of humor.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be sadly missed by her husband Leonard of Appleton, her daughter Jean (Robert) Nettekoven of the Town of Center; her son Milan (Vergeane) Fischer of Manitowoc; one brother Leslie Bast of Appleton; nine grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. Verna is also survived by her step-children: Michael (Kathy) Hermes of Menasha, Dennis (Debbie) Hermes of Sherwood, and Christopher (Carol) Hermes of Kaukauna, and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Kenneth Fischer, and a sister-in-law Millie Bast.
The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 13, 2002 at 11:00 AM at ST. BERNADETTE CATHOLIC CHURCH 2331 East Lourdes Drive in Appleton with the Rev. Harry Berryman officiating. Entombment will take place at the Star of Hope Chapel Mausoleum at Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until the time of the mass. A memorial fund is being established for the Good Shepherd Home in Seymour.
