Mrs. Emery (Vera M. Miedam) Barrett
Age 95
Of Appleton, entered into eternal life on January 11, 2004 surrounded by her family. Vera was born December 28, 1908 in the Town of Grand Chute. She is the daughter of the late Henry and Mary Miedam. Vera was a life long resident of Appleton and belonged to First English Lutheran Church in Appleton. She was united in marriage to Emery Julius Barrett in 1930. Following their marriage, they were blessed with two sons, Jack Emery Julius Barrett and James Henry Barrett. Throughout her life, Vera collected over 1000 dolls and continued to take care of them as well as her home. Her greatest joys in later life were spent at her home with family, especially all of the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons: Jack Emery Julius (Jackie) Barrett, Waupaca and James Henry (Diane) Barrett, Appleton; a sister-in-law, Leora Miedam; 6 grandchildren: Blake (Brenda) Barrett, Neenah, Lori (A.J.) Tranter, Dale, Sheli Strunc, Appleton, Jacque Barrett, Menasha, Deanne (Tony) Volpe, Hortonville and Michael (Tammy) Barrett, Milwaukee; 11 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces also survive her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emery Julius Barrett; two brothers: Adrian Miedam and Irvin (Hazel) Miedam; three sisters: Jeanette (William) Dailey, Pearl (Clinton) Meyers and Ethel (Jerome) Linskins; and great granddaughter, Carolanne Volpe.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at First English Lutheran Church (326 East North St.) Appleton with Pastor Christian Quello officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, and also one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Vera will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
