Vera C. Wichman Herzfeldt

Vera Clara Herzfeldt, age 90, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2006 at the Colony Oaks Care Center in Appleton. Vera was born May 31, 1916, daughter of the late John and Louisa (Dalke) Krueger. On November 24, 1934, she married Edwin Wichman. The couple shared thirty-three years together before his death on June 15, 1968. On December 11, 1971, Vera married Irvin Herzfeldt, and shared twenty-four years with Irvin before his death on September 3, 1996. Vera loved gardening, crafts, square dancing, and rummage sales. She will be greatly missed by all of her relatives and friends, who include two sons: Kenneth (Joyce) Wichman of Appleton and Wesley (Audrey) Wichman of Littleton, Colorado; nine grandchildren: Marsha (Steve) Smith, Bruce (Cathy) Hopfensperger, Deanne (Roger) Abel, Bob Kerrigan, Deb (Bob) Kiley, David (Tina) Wichman, Kay (Ed) Walker, Lori (Dave) Wynkoop, and Shelly (Al) Leachman; twenty-two great-grandchildren: Justin, Candace, Chelsea, BJ, Andy, David, Amanda, Amber, Nathan, Stephanie, Alex, Melinda, Dana, Melanie, Vincent, Alissa, Bryan, Sarah, Marc, Kara, Kelli, and Kate; four sisters: Verona Luebke, Leona Plamann, Pauline Buss, and Verla Koerner; and a brother in-law: Bob Larson. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her daughter Joan (Elwood) Hopfensperger, grandchildren Carla Hopfensperger and Timothy Wichman, sisters Erma Tiedt and Louise Larson, brothers Lawrence, John, Carl, and Lloyd Krueger, and by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

The Christian Funeral for Vera will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, June 16, 2006 at ST. JOHN EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, Highway 47 North in Appleton, with Rev. Jeffrey Suhr officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday and again Friday morning at the church from 11:00 AM until the hour of the service.
