Tony DeBruin passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, December 12, 2005 at the age of 78. Tony was born in Appleton on November 12, 1927, son of the late Peter and Dora (Cathagen) DeBruin. On September 3, 1949 he married the former Marilyn Chadek in Menasha; she preceded him death on September 20, 2000. Tony worked for various contractors in the area for many years as a painter and wallpaper hanger. He enjoyed woodworking, and made many intricate items to beautify his home. He also enjoyed feeding the ducks and other small animals that made their homes in his yard.
Tony is survived by three children: Peter (Doris) DeBruin, Peggy (Steve) Schuh, and Pam (Tom) Vils, all of Kaukauna; eight grandchildren: Sara (Jeff) Johnson, Benjamin DeBruin, Rachel DeBruin, Becky King, Bryan Schuh, Andy Vils, Tim Vils, and Jeremy Vils; a great-grandson: Taylor Johnson; three sisters-in-law: Margaret DeBruin of Appleton, Jane Chadek of Georgia, and Ellen Jacobson of King; and a brother-in-law: Jim DeGoey of Kaukauna. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother May DeBruin, his wife Marilyn, a brother Herb DeBruin, a sister-in-law Delores DeGoey, and brothers-in-law Duane Chadek and Bob Jacobson.
The funeral liturgy will be held at 4:30 PM on Thursday, December 15, 2005 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Marty Fox officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Thursday from 3:00 PM until the hour of the service.
