Age 30, passed away due to an automobile accident in Waupaca on Monday, March 29, 2004. He was born in Appleton on June 26, 1973, son of Lloyd and Joyce (Knoll) Learman. Tony graduated from Appleton West High School in 1991. He served in the United States Navy near the time of the Gulf War. Tony loved hunting, fishing and scuba diving.

Tony is survived by his children: Aryne Hartwig, James Hintz and Patrick Learman; parents: Lloyd and Joyce Learman of Appleton; brothers: Samuel (special friend Peggy Mundy) Strong of Wausaukee, Merton (Marlea) Strong of Medina, Thad (Maureen) Strong of Galliano, LA, and Brian Strong of New London; sisters: LaVina “Lee” Haley of Appleton, Kathryn (Mark) Jansen of Appleton, and Nadene (Mike) Kilburn of Manassas, VA; grandmother, Eloise Learman of Hortonville; and a godmother, Pat Paulson of Montello. He is further survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Tony is preceded in death by his sister, Kim Learman; grandparents: Vernon Learman Sr., Otto and Inaze Knoll, and Violet Hanson; and a godfather, Stanley Drumm.

The funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 2, 2004, at Grace Lutheran Church, Appleton, with Rev. Judy Deckert officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at Riverside Cemetery, Appleton.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the officers and members of the Victim’s Crisis Care Unit of the Appleton Police Department for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Tony’s name is being established.
