Age 69, passed away at Vallhaven Care Center in Neenah on Wednesday, October 18, 2006. He was born in Appleton on September 11, 1937, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Liebhauser) Schindler. Tom was the owner of Schindler Construction for many years until failing health forced retirement. He was a former member of the Town of Menasha Volunteer Fire Department. Tom will be greatly missed by his cat, Nicole.
Tom is survived by his sisters: Rose Schindler of Appleton with whom he made his home for the past six years, and Betty (Joe) Schmalz of Town of Harrison; nephews: Joe (Alicia) Schmalz of Forest Junction and their children Kyle and Sam; and David Schmalz of the Town of Harrison; and nieces: Debbie (Bob Buhler) Schmalz-Buhler of Sherwood and their daughter, Sierra; and Mary (Tom) Schwister of Appleton and their children, Haley and Aaron. He is preceded in death by his brothers: Carl and Jack Schindler.
The funeral liturgy will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2006 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 222 E. Fremont St, Appleton, with Fr. Robert Karuhn officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Valhaven Care Center for their care and concern for Tom and his family.
A memorial fund is being established in Tom's name for Diabetes research.
