Jeanquart, Todd D.
Appleton
Todd Jeanquart’s students at Appleton East High School were amazed when asked to stand on their desks when delivering answers to his questions. Hands waved frantically as students sought the opportunity to speak under unusual but playful conditions. This unique approach to teaching demonstrates what made Todd such an extraordinary and memorable person.
Todd was born on Valentine’s Day 1965 in Sturgeon Bay, WI to loving parents Dale & Joan Jeanquart. He grew up with siblings DJ, Chris & Wendy. At the age of 15, Todd met his future wife and best friend, Heidi, at a middle school dance in Sturgeon Bay. After nine years of dating, they were married in 1990 and made a home together in Appleton.
Todd received his bachelor degree in Journalism and Public Relations from the University of WI Oshkosh. While working in the advertising industry, he began coaching football at Appleton East High School. This opportunity inspired him to leave his job and obtain a teaching degree from Lawrence University. He became an English teacher in the Appleton School district and was currently teaching at Einstein Middle School. While teaching, Todd instilled a passion for writing and poetry in his students. The kids at Einstein Middle School adored Todd’s Poetry Café where they shared their own creative writings and explored modern song lyrics while surrounded by lava lamps and Christmas lights.
In addition to teaching, Todd expressed his creative talents through his devotion to gardening as well as his prized koi ponds. The countless hours spent in his yard gave Todd great pleasure. Todd also shared an interest in antiquing which at times became a competitive game with Heidi while searching for treasures at estate sales and flea markets. Together they enjoyed travel, the arts and spending time with their dogs.
Todd ended his battle with Leukemia on October 3lst. He was 41 years young. Todd will be forever remembered by his family, friends and those whose lives he touched.
A celebration of Todd’s life will be held on Wednesday, November 8th at the Grand Meridian located at 2621 North Oneida Street in Appleton. The celebration will begin at 5:00 p.m. There will be an opportunity to share stories and poems at 7:00 p.m. Please come share your memories.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Todd’s name has been established to benefit the students in the Appleton School District.
