Thomas “Dixie” Dix Sr. of Grand Chute, Wisconsin passed way on the morning of Saturday, October 22nd, 2022, with his family by his side. Tom battled cancer for twelve long years and was incredibly tough and resilient right up to taking his final breath.
Tom was born in Combined Locks, Wisconsin on March 22nd, 1960, to Ronald and Shirley Dix. Beginning at 12 years of age, he worked for his Father at the U.S. Oil Company. He graduated from Kimberly High School in 1978. Tom was an extremely hard working person and always strived for excellence and continued success throughout his life. Tom was also the owner of Appleton Radiator for several years. He built an incredible reputation within the community and he helped out a lot of people. He was an incredibly handy man and could fix just about anything with a tool or even a sewing needle. (He loved to sew!) He would then go on to own several bar and grills, including commercial rental properties through the years. Tom and his wife Tina married on July 28th, 1989 in Appleton, Wisconsin. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, loved to dance, sing, crack hilarious jokes and was always incredibly vibrant and the backbone of any gathering he was attending. He adored his various BRIGHT colored vehicles and garage space! His grandson Cooper brought him so much joy and their bond was stronger than ever!
Tom is survived by his wife: Tina Dix; 2 sons Trent (Eric) Dix-Meixl, Tom (Lindsey) Dix, Jr. and Grandchild Cooper Dix. He is further survived by his siblings: Dave (Pam) Dix; Jean (Santos) Anaya: Jim (Gail) Dix; Joe Dix and Mark (Brenda) Dix; Mother Shirley Dix; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
Tom was preceded in death by his Father Ronald Dix; aunt, Janet (Dick) Cotnoir; aunt, Marlene (Porkie) Brooks; Uncle, Jack Kappell; Uncle Danny Dix and Grandparents: Raymond and Genevieve Kappell and Herman and Virginia (Hamer) Dix.
The family would like to sincerely thank the Theda Care at Home Hospice staff (especially Christina) for keeping Tom comfortable during his last days at home and helping all of us through this difficult process. Also, special thanks to the caregivers at Cherry Meadows of Appleton for providing Tom with genuine care and attention during his stay.
