Thomas John McGuire

Thomas (Tom) John McGuire, age 90, of Menasha, WI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at home with his children, Juli and Mike, by his side. He was born July 8, 1932 to Thomas Michael McGuire and Alma Andre in Menomonee Falls, WI.

 

Tom was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Elaine McGuire (Kaezor) in 2017, oldest son, James McGuire (Jeannette Garneau) in 2020, and brother-in-law, George Walbrun in 2004. He is survived by his sister, Mary Ann Walbrun (George); children, Juli McGuire (Marc Sackman), and Michael McGuire; grandchildren, Robert McGuire, Melissa Sherry (Joseph J.), and Marcus McGuire (Tracey); and great-grandchildren, Common McGuire and Joseph M. Sherry.

 

Tom was proud of his U.S. Air Force service in Labrador during the Korean War. While attending Lawrence University, Tom was very active with Attic Theatre where he and Elaine first met. Tom used his singing talents as a devotion to God. Tom and his sister Mary Ann were often invited to perform throughout the community. Tom sang with the White Heron Chorale in Appleton, WI and the St. Mary Catholic Church Choir in Menasha, WI for over 40 years. He was an insurance adjuster during much of his career. Tom was a published poet and enjoyed writing short stories. He was also an avid tennis player and had an affinity for playing outside on hot summer days.

A celebration of life will be held at the Wichmann Tri-County Chapel at 1592 S. Oneida St, Appleton, on Saturday, August 12.  Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. with memorial service at 3 p.m. 

 

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations for Priests of Sacred Heart, an organization Tom, Mary Ann, and their parents supported.
