Thomas Martin “Tom” Vanden Heuvel, age 81, of Appleton, passed away unexpectedly on June 29, 2021 at his home. He was born in Appleton on January 4, 1940 to John and Antoinette (Vander Zanden) Vanden Heuvel. He attended St. Therese Elementary School and was a graduate of St. Mary High School in Menasha. He was an excellent student. After graduation he served his country as a member of the U.S. Army.
He was employed for over 42 years at Kimberly Clark where he worked as a Team Leader, otherwise known as a Jack of All Trades. In 1967 he spent time in Mexico for his job and he met and fell in love with his wife, Dione. They were married in 1968 after a whirlwind romance.
Tom will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 52 years, Dione of Appleton, daughters: Sandy (Jorge) Vanden Heuvel-Ochoa of Appleton, Dione (Luke Vande Hei) Wise of Appleton, son Christopher Vanden Heuvel of Appleton, close family friend, Nate Wise, 5 beautiful grandchildren, Gabriela Vanden Heuvel, Madie Vanden Heuvel, Christopher Vanden Heuvel, Jr. and Olivia and Owen Wise, sisters: Anita Schanke, and Mary (Bill) Schultz, brothers James (Carol) Vanden Heuvel, and Robert (Jan) Vanden Heuvel, as well as many loving nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
There will be a memorial service on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at 3:00pm at Wichmann Funeral Homes, Tri County Chapel in Menasha. There will be a gathering in celebration of Tom’s life at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:00pm to 3:00pm.
