Thomas L. Manley passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Appleton Medical Center after living at Appleton Healthcare Center for the past year.
Tom was born on March 9, 1934 to the late Monroe and Lila (Poole) Manley of Shiocton, WI. He graduated from Shiocton High School in 1952 and then served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. He married Carolyn (Gullickson) in 1959, and they raised three children in Appleton. He owned a small fence business for over 40 years and was very active in community service. He belonged to the Freemasons, the Grand Chute Lions Club, and he was an active member of his church congregation, Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Appleton.
Tom had a life-long love of music and auto racing, and he enjoyed spending time with his beloved family and many friends. Tom loved to socialize and had a great sense of humor. He loved to laugh, was a dedicated father and grandfather (Papa), and was a friend and mentor to many.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Manley; children, Martin Manley, Andrew Manley and Susan Downs; grandchildren, John, Simon and Abigail; and his brother, James of Milwaukee.
A time of visitation for Tom will be held on Friday, May 30, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 North Superior Street, Appleton. Memorial services for Tom will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at OUR SAVIOUR'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3009 North Meade Street, Appleton, with Rev. Debra Sim officiating. An additional time of visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the family for the Lions Club of Grand Chute, to aid with important community assistance.
