Age 59, died unexpectedly on August 27, 2001, at his home. Tom was born on March 27, 1942 to Alice B. (nee Backes) Stier and the late Joseph L. Stier. Tom was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church as well as being a loving caregiver. He also enjoyed many outdoor activities such as skydiving, mountain climbing, scuba diving and biking.

Tom is survived by his mother, Alice Stier; sisters, Catherine (Gerald) Nytes, Carol Maher, Barbara (Dennis) Krupka, and Joan (James) Gillitzer; brother, Pete Stier; sisters-in-law, Tilly, Ruth, and Cathy Stier. Tom is further survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his father; brother, Joseph T. Stier; three half brothers, Kenneth, Robert, and Richard Stier.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the emergency personnel and clergy who showed compassion in the family’s time of need.

The Funeral Liturgy will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2001, at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, 222 E. Fremont St., Appleton, with Fr. Robert Karuhn officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 29, 2001 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Interment will be at St. Margaret Mary Cemetery, Neenah.
