ROBERTS, THOMAS J. “TOM”

Thomas J. Roberts, of Kimberly, age 79 years, died Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at Appleton Medical Center. He was born July 30, 1927 in Deer Creek, the son of the late Alfred and Anna (Stadler) Roberts. On September 29, 1949 in Bear Creek, he married Elizabeth “Bette” Towne Martin. She preceded him in death on April 22, 2005.

Tom served in the U.S. Army. He was employed by Kimberly Clark – Midtec for 40 years before retiring in 1987. Tom was an avid hunter and fisherman. He will be remembered for his woodworking, his garden and making sauerkraut. Most of all, he was a family man, who cherished spending time with family and friends and looked forward to the visits with his grandchildren. The Roberts’ family spent two weeks every summer at Pelican Lake where his last wish was granted by flying over his fishing spot in a sea plane. Tom will be deeply missed by the clan at Kimberly Pharmacy.

Tom is survived by his sons: Jim (Diane) Roberts, Appleton and Jack Roberts, Monterey, CA; daughters: Mary Hogen, Kaukauna; Judy (“Tigger”) Roberts, Kaukauna and Carol (Sean) Cassidy, Burleson, TX; seven grandchildren: Katie and Ryan Roberts, Jeremy Hogen, Jason (Sara) Roberts, Mike, Scott and Deon Roberts; two great grandchildren: Emily and Haley Roberts; brothers and sisters: Francis Roberts, Clintonville; Anna Burch, Stevens Point; Joyce (Morris) Stilen, Shiocton; Gladys (Clyde) Meyer, Bear Creek; Laura (Rick) Kuehn, Sturgeon Bay and John (fiancé Joan) Roberts, Kaukauna; sisters-in-law: Shirley (David) Huhn, Kimberly; Nancy (Gary) Strebe, Appleton; Karen (Ken) Uhland, Pulaski and Cathy Roberts, New London; brothers-in-law: Larry Getchell, Lily and Howie (Denise) Gaudette, Florida; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Tom was preceded in death by his wife Bette Roberts, sisters-in-law: Anita Roberts and Marie Roberts, infant brother James Roberts, brothers: Fabian (Myrtle) Roberts and Paul Roberts, brother-in-law, Bernice Burch.

The funeral liturgy for Tom will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 7, 2006 at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH – KIMBERLY, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Interment will take place in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 – 8:00 pm and at the Church on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of mass. There will be a parish prayer and scripture service at 8:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
