Hein, Thomas J. “T.J.”

Age 85, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2006, at Rennes Health Center.
T.J. was born June 8, 1921, in Appleton, son of the late Martin and Helen (Tennie) Hein. On May 5, 1962, he married Dora Lee Williams at the Cathedral in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. (Theirs was the first wedding ceremony in the new cathedral.) T.J. honorably served his county in the United States Marine Corps from 1942-1945. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Oshkosh. T.J.’s career spanned 33 years, working exclusively for the L.M. Berry Company selling ads for the Yellow Pages. T.J. earned many promotions and company awards, including salesman of the year several times. After the death of his wife, T.J. traveled to Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
T.J. is survived by three brothers, Florian (Rita) Hein, Jerry (Mary) Hein, and Merlin (Ann) Hein, all of Appleton; three sisters, Dolores Dexheimer, Marie (Bob) Ferron, all of Appleton, and Alice (Jerry) Plog, Green Bay; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Hein, David (Anne) Williams, Mary Smith, Robert (Diane) Williams, Cathryn Wehba, Terry (Cindi) Williams, and Renny (Dan) Herlitzka; and T.J.’s very special godchild, Tamara Austin. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
T.J. was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorie, on September 1, 1971, his parents, and two brothers, Clarence Hein and Robert Hein. Also preceding T.J. in death were a brother-in-law, Harvey Dexheimer, and a sister-in-law, Estella Hein.
The funeral mass for T.J. will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 6, 2006, at ST. THERESE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 213 East Wisconsin Avenue, with Father Dennis Ryan as celebrant. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, LaCrosse. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. Friday until the time of mass directly at the church. A memorial service will be held in LaCrosse at a later date.
