Thomas E. Vik

Thomas Edward Vik was born November 12, 1951, and joined his Savior victoriously on November 16, 2008, the same day as the Lutheran church celebrated Saints Triumphant.

Tom was a great man. By all standards he was successful. However, Tom's reason for success is much different than what most would think. His success was based neither on his life's accomplishments nor money, possessions, or vacations. Tom viewed his life as a success because he was a man of God. He was baptized shortly after birth in Milwaukee. This was only the first of God's abundant blessings. For thirty-five years Tom was married to his loving wife Pat. He also saw the births of his three children, Andrea, Karyn, and Matthew, as well as their baptisms and marriages. He was an especially proud grandpa of Zoe, Maria, and Elijah. Tom always said that the happiest thing for him to see was his children and how successful they have become. Ironically, none of his kids are financially well off, or blessed with large houses, but each of them has a strong faith, which he taught them.

Tom is survived by his mother: RoseMarie Vik of Waukesha; his wife: Patricia Vik of Appleton; three children: Andrea (Jesse) Amico of Portland, Oregon and their daughter Zoe; Karyn (Benjamin) Clemons of Milwaukee; and Matthew (Jennifer) Vik of Milwaukee and their children Maria and Elijah. Tom is also survived by two brothers and two sisters: Judy (Dave) Doll of Montello; Blane (Anne) Vik of Pewaukee; Sandra Vik of Seattle, WA; and Jon Vik of Reno, Nevada; his three step-siblings: Linda Peterson, Brian Vik, and Daniel Vik; and his mother-in-law: Leona Trinkl of Appleton. Tom was preceded in death by his father Richard, his step-father Donald, an infant brother Donald, a brother-in-law Reginald Trinkl, and his father-in-law Frank Trinkl.

Visitation will be held at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Highway 47, north of Appleton on Thursday, November 20 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Friday from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM. The Victory Celebration Service will be at held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 21, at the church, with Rev. Jeffery Suhr and Rev. Micah Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Community Lutheran Cemetery in Freedom.

The family has requested that rather than sending flowers, contributions be made to a memorial fund which has been established to help spread the Good News of salvation around the world.
