Thomas E. Swoboda

March 20, 1939 — December 7, 2020

Tom Swoboda, age 81 of Appleton, passed away at Cherry Meadows Hospice on December 7, 2020.  Tom was born in Antigo on March 20, 1939, son of the late Edward and Evelyn (Turney) Swoboda.  He married is wife Karen (Thorson) at Grace Lutheran Church in Winchester on June 8, 1963.

In 1957 Tom proudly enlisted to serve his country as a member of the US Marine Corps.  Tom spent his entire career at General Telephone Company, following his job to Marshfield, Two Rivers and Seymour.    He was an active member of the Lions Club in Seymour.   As a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Appleton, Tom enjoyed being a caregiver in M.O.P.S (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers).   He loved deer hunting, fishing and camping.  He was one of those guys that could fix just about anything.

Tom is survived by his wife: Karen Swoboda; four children: Donna (Ernie) Kiesow, Diana (Joe) Sepe, Denise (Steve) Zahringer, and Dave (Renola) Swoboda; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Evelyn (Turney) Swoboda; his brother: Robert Swoboda; and his sister: Sally Benes.

The family would like to recognize: Dr Shikunas and his team, ThedaCare Hospice and Cherry Meadows for their wonderful care and compassion through the years.

Due to current COVID-19 health restrictions, a private memorial service is being held for Tom.  A more public celebration of Tom’s life is anticipated to be held in the summer of 2021.
