Age 56, passed away after a brief illness, surrounded by family, at Appleton Medical Center on Monday, October 14, 2002. He was born to the late Joseph and Ann (Streur) Calmes on July 24, 1946, in Appleton. He married Margaret Landreman in Kaukauna on June 19, 1971. Ted loved to spend time with his family and friends. He was known for his love of animals, especially his dogs, “the girls.” Going to the cottage at Berry Lake was very important to him. He will always be remembered for his infectious laugh.
Ted is survived by his wife, Margaret, two children: Molly (Kent) Swanson of Appleton and Tim Calmes (friend, Sara Lukasik) of Appleton; two sisters: Candace (Robert) Schoultz of Grand Chute and Dr. Helen Calmes of New Orleans, LA; one brother, Thomas Calmes of Appleton; and his wife’s brothers and sisters. He is further survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Ted is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Terry Calmes.
The funeral liturgy will be at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2002, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 South State Street, Appleton, with Fr. Michael O’Rourke officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
The family extends a special thank you to the physicians, nurses and staff at Appleton Medical Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ted’s name would be appreciated.
