Ted R. Coon

Ted Coon, age 72 of Appleton, died unexpectedly at his home on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2024. Ted was born in Appleton on December 26, 1951, son of the late Elmer and Ethel (Hoffman) Coon. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, and then married Debbie Rosenow. Together they had a daughter, Patti, but Debbie died when Patti was only five months old. Her grandparents, therefore, played a large role in raising Patti.

Ted worked for many years as an arborist for Asplundh Tree Expert Company, and in his retirement did some driving for N & M Transfer.

Ted was the greatest outdoorsman, to which his brother, nephew and buddy Dan can attest. He lived for spending time in his deer stand waiting for the monster buck to pass. He also loved fishing, as well as his furry buddy, which he lovingly named “Al.” Ted was a member of the Griffon Dog Club, the Outagamie County Conservation Club, the Twin City Rod and Gun Club, and was a charter member of the Algoma Fishing Buddies Club.

Ted is survived by his daughter: Patti (Paul) Crooks of DePere; two grandchildren: Gabriel and Molly; a brother: Tom (Kate) Coon of Appleton; two sisters: Diny (Jeff) Heindel of Sherwood and Vicki (Ken) Kroiss of Kaukauna; and a sister-in-law: Jean Coon of Kaukauna; His nieces and nephews include Andy (Sara) Coon, Sam Heindel, Hayley (Greg) Pethan, Amie (Brian) Giese. Alyssa (Paul) Vandenberg, Emily (Ted) Tickler, Jenny (Robert) Massey, John (Angie) Coon, and Jackie (Adam) Piette; as well as thirteen great-nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind the entire Rosenow family.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Debbie, and a brother Jim Coon.

Family and friends of Ted are invited to gather to share memories and spend time together on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the Wichmann Tri County Chapel., located at 1592 Oneida Street in Fox Crossing. Burial will take place at a later date at Riverside Cemetery.

The family would like to thank his neighbor, Judy, who has gone above and beyond to be not only a great neighbor and friend, but caretaker to Al on many occasions.

Please do not dress up for this event, Ted would want you all to come as you are.

Until we see each other again…SLUV!
