Sylvia S. (Young) Stenbol , 97, formerly of Marquette, Michigan and Port Washington, Wisconsin peacefully passed away in Appleton, Wisconsin on August 29th, going Home to join her beloved husband in Heaven. She was born June 23, 1924 in Mountain, Wisconsin, the daughter of Frank and Verle (Wilson) Young. Sylvia grew up in Neopit, Wisconsin and later Marquette, Michigan where she met and married William (Bill) C. Stenbol, who preceded her in death in 1988. They lived in Milwaukee for a short time before moving to Escanaba, Michigan where they raised their family before moving to Port Washington, Wisconsin in 1976. She moved to Appleton in 2011. She will always be remembered for her devotion to her family and passion for sewing, knitting, her strong soprano voice in the church choir, her vast cookbook collection, and making dozens and dozens of about 25 kinds of Christmas cookies, bars, and fudge and gifting these homemade treats to her children’s teachers over the years, the mailman, her hairdresser, and to family, friends, and neighbors.
Sylvia is survived by her daughter: Jane (Craig) Belling, Appleton, WI; son: Carl (Dawn) Stenbol, Oak Creek, WI; grandchildren: Alec (Sara) Belling, David Belling, and Patrick Belling and fiancé, Brittany Kasprzyk; great-grandchildren; James Belling, Henry Belling and Adilyn Belling; sister-in-law: Roberta Young and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at the First Presbyterian Church in Marquette, Michigan. Sylvia’s love of cooking led her to also donate financially monthly to her local food pantry. The family would appreciate any memorials honoring Sylvia be a donation to their local food pantry.
