TECHLIN, SYLVIA SCHULTZ
Sylvia Techlin died peacefully on Friday, August 15, 2008. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her family and friends. Sylvia was born in Appleton on September 23, 1920, the daughter of the late Raymond and Minnie Schultz. She graduated from Appleton High School and married Henry Techlin on November 28, 1940. In 1955, she and Henry moved to their contemporary-styled home where they raised their family and took pleasure in entertaining friends and family. Sylvia was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was a volunteer with the Appleton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and King's Daughters. She enjoyed golf, dancing and bridge as she and Henry were members of the Butte Des Morts Golf Club and the Manhattan Dance Club. After enjoying sixty years together until Henry's death in 2001, Sylvia moved to a retirement community and continued her volunteerism, dancing and socialization eager to meet new friends and encourage others to participate in activities.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Raymond Schultz and sister Lois Dawson. Sylvia is survived by her three daughters: Judith (Jordan) Woods of Louisville, Kentucky, Nancy Caldie of Chicago, Illinois and Mary (Jack) Tetzlaff of Chicago, Illinois. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Laura (Christopher) Richardson of Oakland, California, Kristen (Michael) Johnson of Chicago, Illinois, Andrew Woods of Louisville, Kentucky, Jason Tetzlaff of Champaign, Illinois, Kelly Tetzlaff of Chicago, Illinois, and Marla Tetzlaff of St. Charles, Illinois; Four great grandchildren, Janet, Thomas and Eleanor Richardson and Morgan Johnson; sister-in-law, Bonnie Schultz and dear friend Wayne Neunenkamp. For the past several years, Sylvia and Wayne have been together enjoying dancing and socializing at the American Legion Club and as members of the Town Dance Club. They also volunteered at Winnegamie Golf Course teaching young golfers the etiquette of the game.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, August 18, 2008, at 11:30 a.m. at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, Appleton, with Rev. Wendy Wirth-Brock officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in her name to Zion Lutheran Church. A special thanks is given to the staff at Theda Care at Home and Carolina Manor Assisted Living for the care received during the past three months.
