Age 84, died Saturday morning, November 30, 2002, at Oakridge Gardens Nursing Home. He was born October 16, 1918, to the late Joseph P. and Elizabeth (Bruehl) Lynch in Appleton, where he was a resident all of his life. Syl attended St. Therese School, where he served mass, graduated from 8th grade and attended Appleton High School, graduating in 1938. He served with the U. S. Coast Guard, during WW II. Following his discharge, Syl had been employed by Kimberly Clark Corporation for 40 years, retiring in 1987. Syl enjoyed spending time at his cottage on Big Lake, Gresham, WI, spending his winters in Port Charlotte, Florida, golfing, water-skiing, playing cards, walking, reading, spending time with his family and friends and was an avid Packer Fan. He was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church, the Oney Johnston-Edward Blessman American Legion Post #38, for 50 years, the Harvey Pierre VFW Post #2778, the 40 et 8 Voiture #1140, the Cooties and Neenah-Menasha Elks Lodge #676. He is survived by his wife, Marion D. (Bayer) Lynch, whom he married November 4, 1940; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne M. and Dave Lindemuth, Kaukauna; Deborah A. and Scott Schultz, Appleton; six grandchildren, Chris (Kristine) Lindemuth, Kelly (Tony) Ashauer, Kimberly (Rich) Van Sistine, Troy, Amber and Ashlee Schultz; seven great grandchildren, Connor and Dayton Lindemuth, Olivia Van Sistine, Breanna Lindemuth, April, Zach and Seth Ashauer; a brother and sister-in-law, Gordon and Karen Lynch, Neenah; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mildred Wittmann, Little Chute; Betty and Steve Talbot, Appleton; Janice and Dave “Bud” Mayer, Wrightstown; an aunt numerous, nieces, nephews and cousins. The funeral liturgy for Sylvester will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, December 3, 2002, at ST THERESE CATHOLIC CHURCH, corner of Morrison Street and Wisconsin Avenue, with Father William Hoffman officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Menasha. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home from 4-8 pm, Monday and on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service. There will be an American Legion and VFW visitation at 7:00 pm and a parish prayer and scripture service at 7:30 pm, Monday. A memorial fund is being established for St. Therese Catholic Church.
