Epstein, Susan Jean Walker
Susan Jean Walker (Gerard) Epstein, of Bellevue, age 56, died peacefully at her home on Monday, April 2, 2007 with her beloved husband, Larry, at her side. Oh how she loved life and gave her love to everyone in it! As a mother, her love was unconditional, resulting in three beautiful daughters who cared for her through her illness with the kindness, compassion, and humor she so graciously taught them. The exquisite wedding gowns that she made for each of them were true labors of love that demonstrated her magnificent sewing talents. Sue’s unending compassion and zest for life were expressed through her nursing career in labor and delivery, where she helped many new little ones make a healthy entry into the world, most recently at Appleton Medical Center and Theda Clark. Sue’s sense of adventure made for many interesting experiences. (Who could forget her leaping over the fire in Ireland to mark the beginning of a new phase in her life!) Those stories keep her alive in our hearts, as will her earthy sense of humor that could always be counted on to lift your spirits. Her love of nature led to many camping trips and walks along Lake Michigan with family and friends. We trust her spirit is now reunited with the land and water she loved so much. Perhaps what will be remembered most is Sue’s tremendous gift for listening with her heart, and her uncanny intuition for understanding just what you needed at any given time. OSusieQ we’re going to miss you!
Sue is survived by her loving husband, Larry Epstein; her children РMeghan and Matt Allen, Laura and Josh Brookes, Erin and Derek Spors, Amy and Scott Acherman, Chris and Allison Epstein; her grandchildren РMadeline, Zachary, Jacob, and two babies who will be joining us in May; her brothers and sisters РCeleste Walker, Jim and Sue Walker, Bob and Jo Ann Walker; her in-laws – Jean Epstein, Dan and Deb Stern, Lori Epstein; Gloria Gerard; her “furry son” Skitters; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Gaynor Walker and Jean Hughes Walker; and former father-in-law Gerald Joseph Gerard.
Sue’s family expresses a special “thank you” to the Bellin Memorial Hospital nursing staff on 1 South, and the staff from Heartland Hospice, for their loving care.
