Grand Chute

Emblem

Susan Mary Hinze (Drews), age 81 of Grand Chute, WI joined her heavenly kingdom on January 11, 2025. She was born to Emil and Dorothy (Fibiger) Drews on January 31, 1943 in Sheboygan, WI. Sue graduated from Central High School with the class of ’61, having already started her lifetime career as a hairdresser during her time in high school. Sue met the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Hinze, during twerp season in high school. After he offered to drive her home one night, she roped him in and asked him take her out again. They were married just a few years after in April of 1962 and recently celebrated 63 years together, raising 2 wonderful children during those years.

Sue was a true nature lover and loved being outdoors whenever she could. Every year, her garden was blooming with the most beautiful flowers and, most importantly, fresh vegetables to cook and/or can. Sue enjoyed being out on the water, especially in Crivitz, fishing and spending time in the sun with Dick followed by supper on the grill. Sue will always be remembered for her strong will and conviction in her beliefs and opinions. More than anything, though, Sue loved her family and was so proud of the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild she helped to raise.

Sue will be deeply missed by her husband, Richard “Dick” Hinze; her children, Wendy (Dana) Sprenger and Richard (Michelle) Hinze; her grandchildren, Maggie, Ethan, Charlie, Katy, Levi (Audrey), Emma, Will, and Hope; her great-granddaughter, Everly; her sister, Kathy Hahn; as well as several nieces, nephews, other extended relatives and ne’re-do-wells, and dear friends.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Dorothy Drews; and her brother-in-law, Mike Hahn.

A funeral visitation will be held for Sue from 9:30 – 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Highland Memorial Park’s Star of Hope Chapel, 3131 N. Richmond St, Appleton, WI 54911 with a private family funeral service to follow. Sue will be laid to rest at the memorial park after the service.
