Steven Richard “JJ” Seidl, the self-proclaimed “mayor of the south side”, age 65 of Appleton, WI joined his heavenly kingdom on March 29, 2024 surrounded by his beloved family. He was born to Michael and Leona (Sigl) Seidl on May 13, 1958 in Appleton, WI. After graduating from high school, he worked as a millworker for Presto Products for his whole career, where he was lovingly known as “Rookie”. JJ married the love of his life, Dianne Seidl in July of 1987 and together, they raised 3 wonderful children.
JJ was a truly good man. He was a hard worker and put his family above all else. He was a witty man who showed his affection by teasing the people he loved. For example, he loved pranking and scaring his kids and grandkids. JJ was a true Elvis lover and spent a lot of his time outside listening to his music. Every Winter, you could always find JJ eagerly plowing the snow off his driveway. He had a deep appreciation for sports, especially watching the Packers, the Reds, and golf. More than anything, though, JJ cherished every moment he could spend with his family and was so proud of every single one of them.
JJ will be deeply missed by his wife, Dianne; his children, Stephanie (Jeremy), Steven (Gayle), and Elizabeth; his grandchildren, Jeremy Jr. and Emilia Jay; his special grand-dog, Penny the Pug; his siblings, James (Donna), Sharon, Jack (Jann), Robert, Nancy Greene, and Debra (William); his sister-in-law, Nancy Seidl; several siblings-in-law on Dianne’s side; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives, and dear friends.
JJ rejoins several members of his family in heaven, including his parents, Michael and Leona; his favorite in-laws, Ruth and Ralph; his siblings, Jerry, Dick, Thomas, Michael (Bill), Don, and Carol; and his siblings-in-law, Al and Tom.
A private memorial service will be held for JJ soon, as he wanted. JJ will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery in Appleton, WI. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the American Cancer Society in honor of JJ.
JJ’s family would like to send a special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and other staff at ThedaCare At Home Hospice, especially nurses Ben and Brittany, for all their care, compassion, and support in JJ’s time of need.
Til we meet again, JJ. We love you.
