Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones on February 27, 2021 at the age of 77. Steve was born on May 13, 1943 to Herbert and Lorraine (Martin) in Milwaukee, WI. Steve attended and graduated from Appleton High School in 1961. Steve then enlisted in the US Air Force, and served from 1962 to 1966 as an In-Flight Refueling Specialist. Steve was joined in marriage to Judy Butler, the love of his life, on June 25. 1966 at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Appleton.
Steve was an artistic and creative man. He painted murals in the family basement among other projects. Steve and Judy traveled extensively, especially to their condo, which was there second home, in Akumal, Mexico. Steve was a member of the MG Club, and frequented antique car shows around Wisconsin. Steve and Judy were socialites, and enjoyed cooking and entertaining their family and friends. Steve also brought joy to countless families as a delivery driver for several florists in the Fox Valley.
Steve is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Judy; daughters Beth (Jeff) Kloss and Cindy (Paul) Renard; grandchildren Alycen and Carley Kloss and Nick, Robert, and Jack Renard; and siblings Chuck (Judy) Holtz and Karen Herz.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws Dan (Alyce) Butler.
The visitation for Steve will be held at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior Street, on Friday March 5, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Military honors at 1:00 PM. Private entombment at Highland Memorial Park.
Steve’s family would to thank Dr. Shannon Schmidt from Theda Care Oncology and Dr. Nathan Grunwald from Theda Care Family Practice and all their staff for their wonderful care shown to Steve and his family during his illness. Per Steve’s request, please wear colorful clothing if you are able to attend his services.
